Easy Chicken Hamburger (Kotleti)

Ingredients

  • Pack of Ground chicken thighs (Chicken breast will be too dry)
  • 2 Cups of Bread Crumbs
  • 1 Yellow Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon of Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon of Mayo
  • 1 Tablespoon of Sour Cream
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Black Ground Pepper
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons of Oil (olive oil is a healthier choice, but you could use any)

  • Through a meat grinder or a food processor, grind 1 onion. Tip: If you do it in a food processor add a little bit of water so the onion gets very well grinned.
  • In a bowl, mix together Ground Chicken, Flour, Mayo, Sour Cream, Egg, Black pepper, Salt, and Onion

  • In a separate small bowl or shallow plate add in the bread crumbs
  • Take about 1 tablespoon of meat and roll into breadcrumbs, shape into a hamburger patty

  • If you are short on time, you could fry them right away,  in a frying pan on medium heat. However; if you do have the time, first shape all of the meat into patties (kotleti are usually shaped into oval, but it’s really up to you how you want them to look) 
  • Heat up oil on medium heat, (oil needs to be just enough to cover the pan all around) you don’t want kotleti to be oily but don’t want to have them dry either.
  • Add shaped kotleti one by one into heated oil, and start frying; on medium heat
  • When you see kotleti to start browning up on the bottom turn them over and fry the other side.
  • Fry until the other side browns up too, than transfer them into a covered dish.

  • These kotleti can be served with mashed potatoes and gravy, or spaghetti with tomato sauce or even eaten without anything.
