Chicken in Walnut Sauce (Sacivi)

  • 2 Tbsp dried marjoram
  • 2 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 2 Tbsp dried dill
  • 2 Tbsp dried summer savory
  • 2 Tbsp dried mint
  • 2 Tbsp coriander seed
  • 1 Tbsp dried fenugreek leaves
  • 2 tsp dried ground marigold petals
  • 1 tsp black peppercorns
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 2 crushed bay leaves

Ingredients

    • 2 lb of Chicken thighs and breast,  bone-in and/or boneless. Also could take skin off.
    • Water to fill pot to boil chicken
    • 1 tsp of curry powder
    • 1 tsp of khmeli suneli
    • 3 tsp of red pepper
    • 3 tsp of black pepper
    • 2 cups of crushed walnuts
    • 3 garlic cloves
    • 2 Tbsp salt
    • salt/ pepper
    • 3 Tbsp of unsalted Butter

How to make Chicken in Walnut Sauce: 

  • You could cut chicken into smaller pieces before or after boil.
  • Put chicken pieces into a pot and fill with water, add 2 tablespoons of salt. Boil for 30 minutes.
  • Take chicken out, cut in pieces if you haven’t already. (save the water from chicken you will need it ).
  • Put chicken pieces in a pan with 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter.

  • Brown up chicken pieces lightly, turn chicken frequently,
  • Add to the chicken 1 teaspoon of khmeli suneli, 3 teaspoons of black pepper, 3 teaspoons of red pepper, 1 teaspoon of curry powder.

  • Add  2 cups crushed walnuts, minced 3 garlic cloves and water that you boiled chicken in, just enough to fully cover all the chicken.

  • Simmer for 15 minutes, or until comes to a boil.
  • You could add salt, pepper to taste.

Instructions
 

  • Put chicken into a pot, fill with water and 2 Tbsp salt. Boil for 30 minutes.
  • Once finished, take chicken out a cut into smaller pieces then transfer to a pan with 3 Tbsp unsalted butter (save the water, you will need it later)

  • Frequently turn over the chicken and lightly brown it.
  • To the chicken skillet, add 1 tsp khmeli suneli, 3 tsp black pepper, 3 tsp red pepper, and 1 tsp curry powder.

  • Add 2 cups crushed walnuts and 3 minced garlic cloves. Then top off with the water from the boiled chicken, just enough to cover the chicken.
