Do you need a perfect strawberry jam recipe? This one is it! All you need for this are two ingredients – strawberries and sugar. This jam is sweet, saucy, and so darn delicious.
You guys, this strawberry jam is everything. I love it. My kids love it. Everyone who has tried it, loves it. It’s an easy recipe that gets so much rave, as it rightfully should.
The other day I was thinking about the foods you find at fairs and carnivals. Because that’s a reasonably logical thing to think about from time to time. So, I started to think about those warm, delicious funnel cakes topped with that juicy, sweet, bright red strawberry jam and that beautiful dusting of powdered sugar. I could taste that slightly sticky, slightly runny sauce with those mouthfuls of whole strawberries. I knew I had to have some of that delicious strawberry jam. So, I made it!
Oh yes. I’m a go-getter. Especially when it comes to all things that go in my stomach. Sorry, not sorry.
This strawberry jam is perfect for topping your funnel cakes. Or your ice creams. Or brownies. It’s a great base for strawberry shortcakes. It’s a wonderful addition to yogurt. It makes a good pie filling. You can do just about anything with this. Well, maybe not everything. But it is a very versatile jam and pairs well with so many things.
To make this jam, you’ll want to remember:
Boil, remove the foam, cool down. Repeat.
You’ll simmer your strawberries with sugar for about 2-4 hours until you see the juices running. Then you’ll bring it to a boil, remove the foam, and let it cool for 5 minutes. Bring it back to a boil, remove the foam again, and let cool for another 5 minutes. You do this process 3 times – this helps ensure your berries will hold their shape. Voila! You’ve got some delicious strawberry jam at home.
So go ahead. Make those funnel cakes. Have that ice cream sundae. Make those treats a little more special with this delicious homemade strawberry jam!
What do I need to make this recipe?
-
- 2 lb fresh strawberries
-
- 4 cups sugar (put a cup less if you don’t like jam too sweet)
How to make the yummiest Strawberry Jam:
- First, wash 2 pounds of fresh strawberries, then cut off the green leaves. (important to wash strawberries before taking the leaves off).
- Place the strawberries into a large pot. Pour 4 cups of sugar on top of the strawberries and let it stand for 2-4 hours, or until you start to see juice.
- Bring the strawberries to a boil, and let it boil for 5 minutes. Take the foam off. After 5 minutes of boiling take off from the heat and set aside to cool down, for about 10 hours.
- Boil the strawberries again for 5 minutes, take the foam off and let cool down for another 10 hours.
- Boil the strawberries one more time, let it cool down for 1 hour before placing into jars. Keep jars in a cool and dark area.
The reason you boil for 5 minutes and let it cool down three times is so the strawberries keep their shape. If you like your jam less runny, boil the strawberries longer.
Enjoy!
