Avocado Spread Appetizer

If you are wondering what to do with your ripe avocados, and you are not quite feeling like having some guacamole, then this easy avocado spread appetizer recipe is a great alternative. There’s no need to buy premade avocado spread anymore, this recipe can be easily made fresh at home. 

This is a great recipe for breakfast, an afternoon pick-me-up, a snack with tortilla chips, or over toast with tomato. This recipe also makes a great avocado dip and takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.

Avocados are not a medical food, and can’t fix all of your health concerns or issues. They are known to be one of the healthiest fruits, however. Studies have shown that people who eat avocados daily are healthier. So, why not add this green creamy fruit to your healthy lifestyle?

How to Make Avocado Spread Appetizer:

To make a simple and flavorful spread, you will need 

Avocados: Ripe 

Onion: Red onion

Garlic: Will boost the flavors of this dip

Lemon juice: Freshly squeezed from a lemon

Hot sauce: To spice things up, but add as much as you can handle or none at all. 

Salt and Pepper to taste 

As a topping, you will also need tomatoes. 

Ingredients

  • 2 avocados
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 medium tomatoes

  • Slice the avocado, remove the pit, and transfer to a food processor or blender. If you like to leave it chunky, you can mash the avocados with a potato masher or fork. 
  • Dice 1/4 red pepper and add it to the blender.
  • Mince 1 garlic clove.
  • Squeeze the juice out from 1/2 of a lemon and also add to the blender. 
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of hot sauce. (More or less, depending on your preference.)
  • Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

  • Blend for 1 minute until it’s pureed. (I used a Magic Bullet.)
  • Toast slices of bread. I used my homemade bread.
  • Spread the avocado mix over each slice of bread.

  • Slice 2 medium tomatoes. Add a slice of tomato on top of the avocado spread.
  • Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
