This low-calorie breakfast-worthy quick dairy-free blueberry smoothie recipe has been a favorite for both the kids and I. It’s a great morning recipe if you are on the go. It is loaded with nutritious ingredients and is sweet and tasty.
All you need to make a nutritional Dairy-Free Berry Smoothie:
Blueberries: The king of antioxidants, this sweet berry is sweet and low in calories.
Spinach leaves: They are a sneaky superfood plant that is packed with iron and protein (no need for protein powder here!). They taste great in this smoothie because you won’t taste much of the leafy flavor.
Chia seeds: They’re healthy fat! Choose your consistency though, chia seeds tend to absorb the liquid and plump up, therefore the smoothie can become thick if not drank right away. I wouldn’t recommend that you add more than needed. If you like it more watery, you can add fewer chia seeds.
Honey: Honey is a great natural sweetener and it gives just the right amount of sweetness into this smoothie without any guilt. Side note: You can absolutely substitute honey for maple syrup.
Milk: I use almond milk, and actually have never tried it with any other type of milk. You could try coconut milk or oat milk though, whichever one you may like more.
