Herring Fish and Vegetables

Servings: 10


  • 3 red beets boiled (2 if bigger size)
  • 4 hard boiled eggs
  • 4 potatoes boiled
  • 4 carrots boiled ( my potatoes were small, so I used more)
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 pound herring fish, without bones I get herring at European supermarkets; there are grocery stores also carry herring, you could also use more or less than a pound, your choice.
  • 1 Tablespoon green onion chopped


  • Boil beets, potatoes, and carrots in one pan until they are fully cooked through.
  • Boil eggs for 5-7 mins.
  • Chop up the green onion.
  • Chop up the herring fish into very small pieces.
  • After vegetables are boiled, cool them down in the refrigerator or on the counter top.
  • Get a shallow dish in which you will be making the salad.
  • Peel and grate potatoes onto the bottom part of the dish.
  • On top of the potato add the chopped boneless herring fish.
  • Spread 1-2 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the herring, then sprinkle green onion on top of mayonnaise.
  • Grate peeled carrots on top of the mayonnaise and onion.
  • On top of the carrots grate hard boiled and peeled eggs
  • Peel and grate red beets on top of he eggs, spread mayonnaise to cover the beets, Enjoy!
