How to make Jello:

  • In a small bowl, combine 2 packages of gelatin and 1/2 cup cold water.  Set aside.
  • Heat 2 cups of milk.
  • Add warm milk and gelatin together. Boil in the microwave for 2 minutes.
  • While milk and gelatin are boiling up, in a separate bowl combine together 1 cup of sugar, 2 cups of sour cream, and 1/2 teaspoon of dry vanilla.
  • Combine milk with sour cream mix.
  • This is the white part for the layered jello. (Let it stand by something warm if you can. This will help it not stiffen quickly. )

  • You could start with a thin layer of white mix. Pour just a thin layer on the bottom of your dish or cups.

  • For jello, follow the package instructions. Make each color as soon as you are ready to put it into your dish.
  • As soon as each layer stiffens in the refrigerator, add another layer.
